this is the boy volcano. you can tell it’s a man because the song says so and also it has no tertiary sex characteristics, it just looks like a volcano. it’s a volcano with a human face

image

this is the girl volcano. you know she’s a girl because she literally has a pretty human face and long human hair and a high voice. if they didn’t make sure you knew she was a woman you might have thought these anthropomorphised volcanoes were Gay

Pixar’s Umbrella Heteros Short 2: This Time Its Volcanos

powermetalnerd

This post makes me so mad. You’re all ignorant children parroting whatever bullshit comes your way. The volcanoes are based on the Hawaiian musician Israel Kamakawiwoʻole (better known as Iz) and his wife Marlene. They were made specifically to resemble the couple, you fucking walnuts. This is why we can’t have nice things. You take everything beautiful and try to corrupt it with your shitty politics

This is Iz and Marlene.

He’s not just “that dude with the cover of Over The Rainbow” okay? He’s fucking important. He was a musician, yes, and he was an activist for Hawaiian rights and independence.

He used his music to promote awareness of the second class status of Hawaiian natives created by the tourist industry.

When he died, the Hawaiian state flag flew at half mast. His coffin (but not his body, he was cremated) lay in state at the state capitol building in Honolulu. Just the third person in Hawaiian history to be given that honor. And the only one who was not a government official. Ten thousand people attended his funeral.

He is a big important part of Hawaiian culture and history. So don’t get all social justice warrior about sexuality and gender when this is really about a culture and honoring the memory of people who are important to that culture.

Teach children that there’s nothing wrong with this

ginzers

I’m really not understanding why you think cultural appropriation would be ok, unless you are assuming that the girl in the picture is part Japanese.

spoopy-roxxi

Yellow face yet she’s using white makeup in the traditional style but okay.

Cultural appropriation isn’t a thing, hon. ☺️ Cultures should be shared by all means.

ginzers

I disagree. The makeup is clearly reflective of traditional Geisha makeup which is yellowface and therefore racist. Furthermore, the girl is wearing a kimono, a garment that has for ages carried cultural significance. Assuming that she is white how can you think this is ok? And cultural appropriation isn’t a thing? What rock do you live under? I suggest you educate yourself on the differences between cultural appreciation and cultural appropriation.

cheshireinthemiddle

I am japanese, in japan at this very moment. The only people who think culture shouldnt be shared are racists like you.

A vast majority of Japanese people actually enjoy other people making an effort to spread and enjoy japanese culture, and encourage it. Many make businesses in deliberately taking pictures of people in kimono. A common omiage (gift) for foreigners from japanese people is traditional japanese things such as kimonos, tea seats, shisa dog statues, ect.

And to top it off, basically 80 percent of japanese customs, traditions, and food, came from other countries. Japanese is an integration of different cultures, like america. Japan takes influences from places like korea, china, russia, and europe. If japan stuck to itself, there would be no tempura, japanese tea, tea ceremonies, kabuki, japanese bread, japanese curry, j- pop, anime, cars, or modern fishing techniques. The picture is not “yellow face” they are not making fun of asians. In fact, it looks like they put extra care and research into their work.

The only reason that you have a problem with this is because that little girl is white and you know that it is acceptable on tumblr to crap all over white people. The only racist here is you.

The idea that you must “earn” your “living” and you die if you can not work is fundamentally immoral. The fundamentals for survival (housing, food, water, medical care) should be guaranteed by society.

fandomsandfeminism

Raise the minimum wage to a living wage.

Support Universal Basic Income.

brotakuandshit

They really shouldnt. Survival of the fittest, if you hunt then you eat. If you farm, you eat. Work is necessary, stop acting like were so advance that labor doesn’t equal life. It still does and always will

fandomsandfeminism

I am 99.9999999% sure that you didn’t grow and kill the food that you eat on a daily basis. And you didn’t build the house you live in. And you didn’t sew the clothes you are wearing. Humans are a communal species and always have been. Once, you relied on others for help surviving, and eventually you will rely on others again.

The fact that we currently, in this country, have an economic system that justifies letting poor people (and poor children) starve to death because they are unable to produce enough profit is not some inevitable darwinian law of the universe.  It is a regrettable, and changeable reality that we should endeavor to alter.

southsidekai

I disagree. If you want it you gotta go get it. Expecting handouts is not the way

fandomsandfeminism

Ah. Excellent advice. “Poor people should just stop being poor.” Noted. Right. I’m sure everyone will just get right on that.

patrickat

“If you want it you gotta go get it!” he screamed at the kindergartner / disabled veteran / elderly nursing home resident / comatose hospital patient.  “Expecting handouts is not the way!”

Being bi isn’t necessarily fun but at least our flag is pretty

Being straight isn’t easy either.

yah it is

It really isn’t. Sure it’s the easiest of the sexualities to be, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy. Like having all of you friends be bi/lesbian. Listening to them talk about all the females they’ve been with. It makes you feel like an outcast. Then when you try to defend being straight you get attacked. Everyone saying “it’s easy being straight” or “you must be a homophobe then if you think being straights hard” I’m not saying it’s really bad, but there are times it’s hard.

oh my god…. shut up…..

No. Don’t shut up. I’m the person in that situation constantly. All of my friends are bi or pan, and you haven’t any idea how strange and awkward I feel being around them when they start talking like that. When I try to defend myself, I don’t necessarily get “attacked”, per say, however I do get the nastiest glares from them.

So just agree to disagree. Don’t turn down the problems straight people have. You all that are bi/pan/not straight some other way, you just want the straights to accept you, right? And not be homophobic? Then stop turning our problems down. I know most people who are straight seem to turn down your problems, but you gotta remember not everyone is like that. It’s hard to be straight, but sometimes it’s easy. It’s also hard not to be, however, it has perks.
